I’m John — a Liverpool-based documentary wedding photographer, shooting weddings across the North West.
Sub Rosa is a really unique space for a wedding. Tucked away in the Baltic Triangle with a much more intimate, informal feel than traditional venues. It’s perfect for couples who want something a bit more personal and less structured, with the focus on the people and the atmosphere rather than formality.
Weddings at Sub Rosa often feel more like a gathering than a traditional wedding day, with ceremonies taking place at nearby venues like Liverpool Town Hall. That creates a really natural flow, where things move at their own pace and there’s plenty of time for relaxed moments with friends and family.

What a wedding feels like at Sub Rosa
There’s a really easy, social energy to weddings at Sub Rosa. Things to be less formal and more about spending time with the people you care about. The space itself has loads of character, and because everything is close together, nothing ever feels rushed or over-structured.
I approach days here in a very natural, documentary way, blending into what’s happening and capturing it as it unfolds. That means focusing on real moments rather than staging things.

Pricing
Wedding photography coverage typically starts from £850.

5 Hours - from £850
For the ceremony and time celebrating afterwards, without needing photography from morning to evening.
8 Hours - from £1100
Time for some preparations, the ceremony and reception, often through to the first dance, depending on your timings.
10 Hours - from £1350
Extra time before the ceremony and later into the evening, with room for preparations, the reception and more of the dancing.
All packages include edited high-resolution images, private online gallery, and travel within the North West.
Need something in between? Six or seven hours may suit your plans better. Other coverage lengths are also available by quotation.
Five-hour coverage is available on selected dates. Some peak dates may have a minimum booking value. I’ll confirm the options for your date when you enquire.
